Is Lump of Coal Soap Co. open year round?

Lump of Coal Soap Co. is only open for the holiday season, roughly September through December.  If you missed out, you can sign up for our email to find out when we will open for orders. You can also visit our year-round shop for all sorts of goodies at http://www.chemistryplusartpluslove.com.

Are your products natural?

Natural is a pretty squishy word these days and we don't like to throw it around just because it's the popular thing to do. Some of our products contain only ingredients made by nature such as olive oil, colors produced by infusion or plant powders, and essential oils. Some of our products contain ingredients like fragrance oils and colorants that are synthesized in a lab. Every product description includes a complete list of ingredients and, as always, we encourage you to take a look. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to email us at vixen[at] lumpofcoalsoapco [dot] com.

Does soap have lye in it?

We make soap by using cold and hot process.  This kind of soap making is chemistry in action!   Sodium hydroxide, also known as lye, is used in chemical reaction with oils to create soap.  The chemical reaction is called saponification.  So, while lye is used in soap making, the end product is the result of the chemical reaction and does not contain lye, but rather "saponified oils."

Do you have a storefront?

Not at the moment, but we are definitely working on it. We anticipate a seasonal pop up shop or a permanent location in the near future. Please sign up for our newsletter using the form, located at the bottom of the page, to be the first to know when and where!

Where do you ship?

Currently, we only ship to the United States.

What do you mean by “vegan friendly”?

Vegan can mean different things to different people.  What we mean by the term is that no animal products were used in our creative lab to make our products or are knowingly included in the product. To the best of our knowledge, all of our non-essential oil fragrances are synthetic and not derived from animals.  Our red colorants are cochineal-free.

What is your return policy?

Thirty days. No questions asked. Simple as that.

We stand behind our products and we want you to be overjoyed with your purchase and your experience with us. Though we try very hard to ensure our photos and descriptions are thorough and accurate, we realize things sometimes come up.

Bath and body products are very personal and once they leave our hands we really don’t want them back. While we are unable to accept returns, we will be glad to let you select another similar item you’ll enjoy more and ship it to you free of charge, send you a gift code for the purchase price of the item, or issue a refund for the purchase price of the item. Shipping, if any, is non-refundable. You must contact us within 30 days of your order.

If you don’t love your product, simply let us know via email us at: vixen [at] lumpofcoalsoapco [dot] com. Be sure to reference your order number which can be found on your email order confirmation or the packing slip included with your package.  We ask that you tell us why the product was not right for you (helps us make more awesome stuff the next time) and, if the item is in good condition, please pass it along to someone who might like it more.

Can I change my order?
